Back in our college days, my best friend and I would do lunch together almost every day. It was mostly at Chili’s because that’s where we worked, and we got the employee discount. There’s nothing a college kid loves more than cheap food; I’ve eaten my weight (x10) in their chips and salsa. It was a great mid-day catch up to talk about all the things that happened since we’d seen each other a couple hours earlier. We were also roommates so there was no detail of our lives too small to discuss.
Daily lunches are no longer practical, especially since we don’t live in the same city. But when I’m in town the lunch meetup is back on; plus I stay at her house so it’s like the good ol’ days all over again.
Too often I eat lunch at my desk during the week so I can work on this site or get caught up on a book I’m reading, but today I’m going going out for a scheduled monthly lunch with a group from my work. We all used to be in the same group and on the same floor, but are now on separate floors so we rarely see each other. These lunches are our way of ensuring that we get face time with each other on a regular basis.
Remember, you get out of a relationship what you put in! And you have to eat lunch anyway, so eat in the company of friends. It’s a win-win.
I want to know what you normally do at lunch! Leave a comment below.
