Monday I told you to pick up the phone, now I’m telling you to turn your phone off. Hello mixed messages! There is a method to the madness though, trust me.
I want you to go home tonight after work, and..get your mind out of the gutter…pour a glass of wine. Or if you don’t drink wine, pour a glass of whatever it is that non-wine drinkers drink. I’m not sure what that might be.
Today the object of the challenge is your significant other. I don’t have a spouse, but I’m guessing some of you probably do. Or maybe you have a boyfriend or girlfriend. That’ll work too. If you’re single, go ahead and pour that glass of wine for yourself. I know you were going to anyway.
The next thing you’re going to do, (stick with me on this – I promise it won’t hurt too badly) is turn your phone off.
You’re going to turn your phone off and be in each other’s company. Television falls in the same category as smart phone – turn it off. You can play a game together or go to dinner. Go outside and play with the dog.
Or you could ask each other the 36 questions to fall in love. You may say, I already love this person – why do I need to ask questions designed to make me fall in love? I can’t answer that. I’m single. It seems like a good idea to me though. I’m guessing that there’s still something you can learn about a person you intend to spend the rest of your life with, or not. Maybe the questions will just confirm everything you already knew about each other and you can send me a smug reply letting me know you are the exception to my rule. I’m okay with that.
It doesn’t matter what you do, just do it together. Turn the phone off. Be present. Facebook will wait for you.
Don’t turn your phone off just yet! Go back to Day 1 for a list of all the daily prompts!
