If you tried to stop by the site this weekend, you probably noticed it was down for maintenance, and if you’re observant, you may have noticed that it looks completely different today. It took me three days, but I managed to get through a complete overhaul without having a complete meltdown. I thought about taking today off to recover, but the shut-down caused me to get a little behind in my 31 day challenge. So to catch up, you are getting three for the price of one today! To stay consistent, all three of these challenges have a central theme; I want you to write a note. Make that three notes.
On Day 9 I compared Facebook comments with hand-written notes. I stand by that comparison, but I have to say that while it is close, nothing can beat holding a letter in your hand that someone took the time to write. Getting real mail is the best, which is why it’s a recurring theme in this challenge. We also sent pictures to Grandma and sent an uplifting note to a friend who needed encouragement. Your next three challenges are all about sending even more mail. Stamps are like 44 cents – you can afford it.
Challenge 17: Write a note to say thanks
My friends are the best at this. I recently gave two birthday gifts and received a thank you card the same week. That blows my mind. The two people who sent the notes each gave me a birthday gift a few weeks before and they have yet to receive a written word of gratitude from me. I am the worst. I even own blank thank you cards, but like the gym, they only work if you use them.
What do you have to be thankful for?
Challenge 18: Write a note to surprise
Unexpected notes have a special place in my heart. When someone reaches out for no reason in particular, it makes me feel like a million bucks. This is a note my friend Amanda packed with a sandwich she brought me for trivia night at the bar. We may not have won trivia, but we’re winning at friendship. Too cheesy? I thought so, but I did love that note. Think of when your mom hid cute notes in your school lunch. It probably really embarrassed you. But you probably think fondly of it now. Find a way to sneak a note to someone this week for no reason at all.
Challenge 19: Write a note to congratulate
For the last note challenge, think about someone in your life who’s done something incredible recently. This could be anything from tackling a work challenge to reaching a fitness goal. Friends are supposed to support each other during the highs and lows, so when your friend is awesome, tell her she’s awesome.
That’s it! Three notes and I bet you didn’t even break a sweat.
Who would receive a note from you today?
